Palos Verdes

Striking oceanside cliffs and lush green hills make the Palos Verdes peninsula a jewel of Southern California. Located 25 miles south of Los Angeles, Palos Verdes is known for excellent schools, beautiful estates, and the outdoor lifestyle whether the ocean or horseback riding is your adventure of choice.

Real Estate:  The Palos Verdes Peninsula is composed of four cities each with its own distinctive style. Palos Verdes Estates is the oldest city on the peninsula and offers a sophisticated seaside atmosphere. An art Jury was established in 1923 to monitor all building specifications and property changes. Under the guidance of architect Myron Hunt, a California style of architecture with stucco, adobe, and tiled roofs flourished in Palos Verdes. The Art Jury and the Palos Verdes Homes Association continue to oversee building and landscaping across the city.

Rancho Palos Verdes features a variety of living choices, from oceanfront homes and rural ocean view enclaves to quiet family neighborhoods and condo developments.

Rolling Hills is gated, guarded and known for tranquil equestrian properties and a ranch-style charm.  Properties here offer city lights and ocean views, with quiet lanes meandering past white fences and grazing horses.

Rolling Hills Estates enjoys a semi-rural setting and maintains many parks, a tennis club and riding stables. There are single-family dwellings and condominium developments within the city, plus the Peninsula’s main shopping malls.

Community Life: Palos Verdes is a surfer’s paradise. There are numerous nature reserves in the area including Palos Verdes Estates Shoreline Preserve, Agua Amarga Reserve, and Portuguese Bend Reserve. A complete shopping, entertainment and dining destination, Rolling Hills Estates includes a mile-long commercial district with open-air shopping plazas featuring a state-of-the-art movie theater, an ice rink, and a blend of specialty restaurants, popular national retailers, and local merchants.

Education: The Palos Verdes Peninsula Unifed School District boasts some of the highest API scores in Southern California.  There are eleven elementary schools, three intermediate schools, and three high schools: Palos Verdes High School, Rancho Del Mar High School, an Rancho Del Mary High School. Marymount College is located in Rancho Palos Verdes. Local private schools include Chadwick School and Rolling Hills Country Day School.

Transportation: Palos Verdes is easily reached by the Pacific Coast Highway. The Palos Verdes Peninsula Transit Authority has nine different bus routes spanning the Peninsula.

Local Attractions: The South Coast Botanic Garden is 87 acres of land that offers different gardens, a lake, and an open meadow. The Terranea Resort draws visitors looking for relaxation with an ocean view. The Point Vicente lighthouse in Rancho Palos Verdes is a popular historic landmark. Wayfarers Chapel, also known as the Glass Church, is a church designed by Lloyd Wright and listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
